What are the sizes of sheetrock and which one do I use?

¼ inch sheets of drywall board are not strong enough for good support alone, but they are excellent when you need to install drywall on a slightly curved surface such as an arch.

½ inch drywall is the “standard” size. This is used for interior walls and ceilings.

5/8 inch drywall is slightly thicker and heavier than ½ inch. 5/8 inch drywall is often standard in garages. If your goal is to block out more noise, 5/8 inch is the option you want.
